Frequently Asked Questions
Do the pages come in only one kind? Are the insides all the same or are there options for the paper type?
For my classic journals & diaries I tend use unlined, no dot, 80lb weight drawing paper. This high quality paper is thicker than printer paper but not as thick as watercolor or acrylic painting paper, for example. At 118gsm (for those of you familiar with paper and the various weights and textures) this paper can hold up to marks made with pencil, pen, inks, glue sticks, and sketch drawing. While the 80lb paper is my “go to” paper for diaries and journals, I am more than happy to make them with any weight paper you desire, we would need to adjust the size of the book to accommodate thicker papers, thinner papers can easily be substituted for 80lb weight paper. I can also including adding lines or dots for printer weight paper or 80lb paper, so that you have a format for writing.
Do you do custom orders? Like size, outer book material, paper type, leather covers, etc.
Yes, I take custom orders. Yes, I can customize your book to your specifications. I will advise you on what works best and what I would advise against, for example, if you ask for a classic journal book with watercolor weight paper and want 80 pages, this will be difficult as watercolor paper is very thick and would make the book very thick and cumbersome (hard to open fully.) Heavier papers should be built into an album format for easier use and there would be less pages.
I am currently working on a prototypes of books between journal size and notepad size, and albums with mixed media covers (acrylic paints on canvas, with clay decor.) I am not working with leather at this time. Preparing leather to cover a book requires additional tools and skills that I am working to acquire.
